About

Trinity Church, located in the Historic District in Southport, Connecticut, has been at the epicenter of Christian worship and the community at large for over two hundred and eighty years.

We aspire to be compassionate and understanding in our faith, celebrate God’s blessings, and discover a saving balance to the pressures of everyday living.

This blog is meant for the parishioners of Trinity to share with each other and the greater community all the wonderful ways we serve God and one another.

Be radical this sabbatical and try a new prayer practice!

The first gathering for our Lenten Program on Prayer was Tuesday night and it was a success. Twenty-four of us gathered in the Library for some “gastro”evangelism and to begin learning and practicing some of the prayer forms used by Christians throughout the centuries. We did a guided meditation together, using John 14:1-7, and ended with a Service of Night Prayers.

Following are some of the wonderful group responses to the question, “What is prayer?” Communication with God…partnering with God…calming presence…way to focus…sharing feelings…petition…contrition…crying out…asking for help…working things through in the mind…reminding one’s self of what one believes…asking for guidance…putting things in perspective…praise and giving thanks…fostering forgiveness…time for listening.

Here’s an easy prayer for any of our blog readers who need something simple to use:
“With God’s help, may I bring to this (meeting, test, doctor’s appointment, presentation…) clear thoughts (touch forehead), wise words (touch mouth), a kind heart (touch heart).
